Island Sailors coordinates OPL and passing-vessel support in the Maldives where operationally feasible — stores, spares, provisions, crew and personnel, technical attendance and medical assistance through one accountable operations desk.
OPL support without a port call
Vessels passing the Maldives may be supported at outer port limits or designated anchorages without a conventional port call, subject to authority approval and operational feasibility. Our operations desk plans each request around the vessel’s ETA, position, cargo and the authorities involved.

OPL services
Urgent spares
Urgent spare parts can be received through Velana International Airport or Malé Commercial Harbour, cleared with Maldives Customs Service, held where required and forwarded to the vessel with full documentation.
Provisions
Fresh provisions, dry goods, bonded stores and potable water can be arranged for passing vessels, sourced through qualified local suppliers and subject to availability.
Personnel transfer
Transfer of superintendents, surveyors, technicians, pilots or other personnel between shore and vessel, coordinated with the relevant authorities and subject to sea state and craft availability.
Crew change support
Sign-on and sign-off coordination, immigration formalities, visa or sponsorship where applicable, airport meet-and-assist, hotel accommodation and onward travel arrangements.
Launch and final-mile logistics
Final-mile delivery to the vessel is arranged by suitable launch or service craft where operationally available, planned around the vessel’s ETA, position and the weather window.
Technical attendance
We coordinate local technicians, service engineers and qualified surveyors to attend vessels for inspections, repairs or reporting where the work can be carried out safely offshore.
Medical assistance
Crew medical cases can be landed for treatment at Malé hospitals such as ADK Hospital and Tree Top Hospital, with emergency evacuation coordinated in collaboration with the relevant local authorities.
Authority coordination
Pre-arrival notifications and clearances are coordinated with Maldives Customs Service, Maldives Immigration, Port Health and port authorities before any OPL operation takes place.
OPL Husbandry Support
Crew movements, stores, technical attendance, medical coordination and urgent vessel requirements can be coordinated as part of an OPL call, subject to authority requirements and operational feasibility.

Every OPL operation is subject to authority clearance, weather and sea state, craft availability, cargo and vessel type, and the time of day. We confirm what can be done before committing to a plan, and keep the master and managers informed throughout.

Malé, Uligan and Gan OPL context
Support can be coordinated across the Maldives, but not every service is available at every location.
Malé / Hulhumalé — central
The principal commercial harbour and Velana International Airport make Malé the main gateway for urgent spares, crew changes, provisions and authority clearances.
Uligan — Haa Alif, north
The northern entry point for vessels arriving from or passing towards the Arabian Sea. Support here is planned case by case and depends on local resources and transfers from Malé.
Gan / Addu — south
The southern gateway for equatorial Indian Ocean passages, with regional port facilities and airport connectivity. Available services are confirmed per enquiry.
